REGISTRATION FAQs

Both teachers and students of Iyengar Yoga are welcome to register. The only requirement is a study of Iyengar yoga for six months or more. For IYNAUS members, 2016 membership dues must be paid prior to attending the convention. IYNAUS members can pay their dues by visiting iynaus.org. International registrants can pay their dues and certification mark fees through their national member associations.

No, registration is offered for the full convention only. A single registration may not be shared by multiple students. At the present time, no day passes are being offered.

You may cancel your registration at any time but to receive a refund you must do so by 2/27/2016. A $150 processing fee will be charged for all cancellations. All requests for refunds must be made in writing to the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS), emailed by 2/27/2016 to Nancy Watson. All cancellations after 2/27/2016 will NOT receive a refund or credit of any kind. All merchandise sales and charitable contributions are final; no refunds will be issued.

No. However, all volunteers will receive a special t-shirt to wear and be recognized by while working at the convention. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the events and earn the respect and gratitude of everyone who attends.

You can edit the details (change contact information, purchase additional merchandise, etc.) of your registration as follows:

  • Visit the registration web site.
  • Log in with your email address and password. If you did not set a password when you registered, you will be emailed instructions on how to set a password. If you don't remember your password, there is a link you can use to reset it.
  • Once you log in successfully, proceed through the different screens, updating any information or adding merchandise. If you need to pay for additional purchases, make sure to continue through the check out page.

TRAVEL & LODGING FAQs

We still have a block of rooms and suites available off site at Boca Raton Wyndham, starting at $99. Parking at the Wyndham is free. The most cost effective mode of transportation from the Wyndham to the Boca Raton Resort and Club (where all events take place) is Uber. The one-way cost is approximately $10. If three or four persons share an Uber vehicle, this cost is even less. Uber is quick and efficient. To use Uber, please download the Uber app BEFORE arriving in Florida.

Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach airports are about the same distance from the Boca Raton Resort. However, Fort Lauderdale tends to be less expensive and has more flights.

  • Palm Beach International (PBI): 29.7 miles
  • Ft Lauderdale Hollywood International (FLL): 25.3 miles
  • Miami International (MIA): 46.5 miles

Super Shuttle is offering a discounted rate for Convention participants from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale airports. Reserve a spot and use the code X4HBS. While not discounted, note that the $39 shared ride fare from Palm Beach International is a good price. There are also affordable options through Lyft and Uber.

ON SITE FAQS
  • Light vegetarian hors d’oeuvres will be provided at the Meet and Greet at 4pm on Thursday before the Keynote Address.
  • A vegetarian or vegan dinner will be served at the Sunday banquet.

The resort has a diverse array of restaurants on site, including food carts and other options to purchase snacks and lighter meals.

  • Parking at the resort is available at a discounted rate of $17 per day and $31.50 for overnight parking per day.
  • Parking at the Wyndham is free.
  • The convention begins Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 4pm with a Meet and Greet followed by the Keynote Address at 5pm.
  • The convention finishes on Monday, May 30, 2016 with a 11:45am Closing Ceremony that will end between 12:30 and 1pm.
  • Registration check-in is open on Thursday from 7am to 7pm.
  • Registration check-in on Friday starts at 6am.
PROP FAQs

To participate, you will need a yoga mat, four blankets, one block, and two belts. If you bring your own props, make sure you mark them so that you can identify them.

We have a limited number of prop kits available for purchase when you register (mat not included). If you have already registered, you can log back in to your registration to purchase a prop kit (subject to availability).

While additional props and yoga supplies will be available from on-site vendors, you will need to visit the marketplace on Thursday between 1 and 4:30pm in order to have the props you need for the Friday morning class.

Yes, you will be able to store your props in a storage room near the mega class ballroom. You can also take your props back to your rooms.

Iyengar Yoga, one of the world’s most widely-practiced forms, emphasizes correct alignment of all parts of the body within each yoga asana (posture). This precision of approach builds strength and stamina, balance and flexibility, and a new sense of well-being. Achieving meditation in action, the practitioner learns to exist fully and vibrantly in the present moment.

The BKS Iyengar Yoga National Association of the U.S (IYNAUS), a not-for-profit organization, disseminates and promotes the art, science and philosophy of yoga according to the teachings of BKS Iyengar. The Association oversees teacher training guidelines, holds annual certification assessments, and maintains a code of ethics for its teachers. IYNAUS also produces a bi-annual newsletter, imports and sells Iyengar yoga publications and products from India, sponsors workshops and conventions, and maintains an archive of Iyengar yoga materials and a national directory of Certified Teachers.
